Green pool? Don't just shock it. Test your pH first. If it's above 7.8, chlorine can't kill algae. I learned that the hard way after wasting a whole jug of shock. Now I always adjust pH to 7.2-7.6, then hit it with liquid chlorine at night. Run the pump 24/7 and brush twice a day. Took me 3 days to clear a swamp.
